Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival
Grab the popcorn and get settled into your chair for some of the best movie watching in Florida with the Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival 2012. In it’s 27th year, this annual festival goes from October 19 through November 11, and takes place at a variety of fabulous venues. These are Muvico Pompano, Sunrise Civic Center, Grand Bahama Island, and the Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival’s year-round home base, Cinema Paradiso.
Choose from a huge selection of movie genres, including short films, documentaries, and features. More than 35 countries are represented at the Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival, and some of the finest are chosen to play at other festivals throughout South Florida, including the Daytona Beach Film Festival and the St. Augustine Film Festival.
For those who want to add to their movie-going experience, there are options like attending the Festival’s parties.
The Opening Gala will be held on October 19, at Gulfstream Village in Hallandale. It will feature scrumptious catering and decadent beverages from the Village’s restaurants including III Forks, Brio Tuscan Grill, and Texas de Brazil. Things really get going after that, with at least 10 movies a day playing from morning until night in the various venues.
Look forward to international titles like How I Became an Elephant; Sex, Lies & Surgery; and Apartment in Athens. If you’re a member of the Festival, tickets are $6. For non-members, they go for $10. There are also Fast Passes and Special Screenings, so you don’t miss a minute of these riveting films.
