Florida Grand Opera: The magic flute
One of Mozart’s Best coming to the Au-Rene Theater at Broward Center on Thursday February 21st at 7:30 pm and Saturday, February 23rd at 8:00 pm
The Magic Flute is a musical masterpiece, one of Mozart’s finest, and one of the most performed operas in the world. Centered on the constant battle between good and evil, the story plays out like a timeless German fairy tale. Following her amazing performance in Paris, Soprano Jeanette Vecchione stars as the Queen of the Night, the manipulative mother at the center of the drama. She’s a character you’ll never forget, performed by a singer who will take your breath away. Tickets start as low as $11.
What if I Don’t Speak German?
Operas are all about the music. The story simply serves as a vehicle to carry the singers and score through a theme. However, Florida Grand Opera features subtitles in Spanish and English over the stage during every performance, so you can savor all the nuances of character, while following every twist and turn in the plot. On that note, arrive at the theater an hour early for a free pre-show lecture from our very own opera expert, Justin Moss.
